Paris, recognised worldwide as the city of love and passion and of beauty and lights, is not a place instantly associated with family holidays. However, equipped with a Paris Pass and the lowdown on where to go, Paris can also be a wonderful place for family fun.

Paris has many attractions aimed at children, particularly those that have been built over the last 20 years as part of the grand projects of museum development. There is also plenty to keep the big kids entertained.

Start your adventure with something a bit educational at the Cité des Science. This museum is a giant interactive playground that encourages children to explore and experiment and in so doing, to learn about the world in an inspiring and fun way.

For something less educational but perhaps more fun, check out the Grevin Museum of waxwork where kids of all ages can wander among the great figures of French history as well as the celebrities of today. The museum’s Mirror exhibition is the type of attraction that has been entertaining children for over 100 years and continues to do so.

The Aquarium Tropical de la Porte Dorée is something of an oddity; a tropical aquarium housed in an art deco palace. They have crocodiles, sharks, cuttlefish and a large amount of tropical fish from around the world - a truly unique Parisian experience!

You will be delighted and mystified at the collection of inventions, discoveries and technological innovation on display at the Musée des Arts et Métiers. Don't miss the collection of vintage cars and flying machines, all of which are suspended from the roof.

For something of the scare factor be sure to visit the Musée des Égouts de Paris, a fascinating museum dedicated to the famous sewer system of Paris. Home of gothic arches and tunnels and to a thousand stories, the Paris Sewer Museum is sure to thrill and chill the whole family.

Lastly, do not overlook the grander, more seemingly adult oriented museums. The Louvre, Orsay and Pompidou are so spectacular that even the most fleetingly attentive child, big or small, will pause in wonder at this collection.
